Who runs Vulo

Vulo (“Vulo”, “we”, “us”) is operated by Webafy (“Webafy”), a business based in South Africa. In these terms “Vulo and Webafy” includes the owners, directors, employees, contractors and agents of either, and any tools we use to compile the information on this site. You can reach us at vip@webafy.co.za.

What Vulo is

Vulo is a free research tool that collects and displays information that providers and official bodies publish about cellphone contracts, funeral cover, retirement annuities and school fees in South Africa. It earns no commission and takes no payment from any provider, so no product is promoted because it pays us more.

Vulo does not sell, arrange, quote, underwrite or administer any product, and does not act between you and any provider or school. A comparison on Vulo is the start of your own research, never a substitute for it.

Nothing on Vulo is financial, investment, insurance, credit, tax, legal or educational advice, or a recommendation of any kind. Vulo is not a registered financial services provider under the Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act, 2002 (FAIS), is not a credit provider or credit bureau under the National Credit Act, 2005, and does not render “financial services” as those laws define them. Where the site ranks results or labels one a “best match” or “lowest price”, that is a mechanical calculation against the answers you entered and the published prices, not an assessment of your needs, circumstances or risk.

The information may be wrong. Prices, fees, benefits, waiting periods, exclusions, contract terms and school details on Vulo are compiled from providers' and official published sources with the assistance of AI tools. They can be misread, mistranscribed, incomplete or out of date, and providers change them without notice. A date shown next to a figure only tells you when we last checked it.

You must always do your own research. Before you make any decision, sign anything or pay anyone, confirm every figure and condition directly with the provider or school, read the provider's own documents, and consider speaking to an authorised financial services provider or other professional who can advise on your circumstances.

Vulo and Webafy are not responsible for any false, inaccurate, incomplete or outdated information on this website, in our articles, or on any site we link to, and accept no responsibility for any loss or damage that follows from relying on it, to the fullest extent the law allows.

Not a quote, an offer or a contract

Nothing on Vulo is a quote, an offer, a contract, or a promise of cover, credit, service, enrolment or a place at a school. Only the provider or school can quote or contract with you, and only they can tell you what you would actually pay or receive once your own circumstances are assessed. Figures shown are what a provider publishes for the inputs you selected, before any underwriting, credit check, stock check, eligibility rule or admission decision it applies.

How the figures are compiled

Every figure comes from a provider's own published page or document, or from an official register, and each result links to its source and shows the date it was last checked. We do not estimate or fill gaps: where a source does not say something, Vulo says it is not specified. Even so, errors happen, in reading a source, in transcribing it, or in how the site displays it, and sources change after we read them. Where we find an error we correct it, but we do not promise that the site is error-free at any given moment.

Illustrative, “from” and quote-only figures

Some providers publish a figure they describe as illustrative or non-binding, a price their product “starts from”, or no price at all. Vulo labels each of these wherever they appear and excludes them from “lowest price” comparisons. They show the shape of the product and are not a price anyone can hold a provider to. A total shown for a contract is our own arithmetic (the monthly price multiplied by the term, plus any once-off payment the provider publishes) and is not a figure the provider has stated.

Products you may not be able to buy directly

Some cover, funeral cover in particular, exists only through an employer or another group scheme. Some deals depend on stock, network coverage, existing-customer status (for example “Upgrade Only” deals) or credit checks the provider applies at the point of sale. Vulo shows these where it has the data, but they are never presented as something you can necessarily take out yourself.

Schools

School information comes from the Department of Basic Education's published register and the gazetted no-fee lists, and from fee documents the schools publish themselves. A school is shown as no-fee only if it appears on the relevant gazette. Where no fee has been published, Vulo says the school sets its own fee and does not estimate one. Vulo does not rank, rate or recommend schools, and a school's quintile is a funding category, not a measure of quality. School details, fees, admission criteria and availability change; always confirm them with the school and, where relevant, the provincial education department.

Articles and guides

Blog posts and guides on Vulo are general information, written at the date shown. They are not advice, and the figures and examples in them (including totals and comparisons) may no longer be current by the time you read them. Worked examples are arithmetic on stated assumptions, not predictions or promises.

How results are ordered

Results are ordered by how closely each option fits the answers you gave and any filters you chose, combined with published price. Options that fit poorly still appear and rank lower. Ordering is not influenced by any payment, because we accept none from any provider.

Third-party sites, images and links

Vulo links to providers' and official websites so you can check a figure. Those sites are outside our control, and we are not responsible for their content, availability, accuracy or privacy practices. Device photos are loaded directly from the relevant provider's own website, which means that provider receives a request from your browser (see our privacy policy). Provider names, logos and product names belong to their owners and are used only to identify what is being compared; Vulo is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any provider, school or government body.

Acceptable use

Vulo is provided for your personal, non-commercial use in researching products and schools. You agree not to scrape, systematically extract or republish Vulo's data at scale, not to interfere with, overload or try to gain unauthorised access to the site or the systems behind it, not to misrepresent Vulo's content as advice or as coming from a provider, and not to use the site for any unlawful purpose.

Intellectual property and data licences

Vulo's own text, design and software belong to Webafy or are used under licence. The product data displayed remains the property of, and is sourced from, the provider it names, and Vulo makes no ownership claim over it. School register data is from the Department of Basic Education and is used under a Creative Commons Attribution (CC-BY) licence, with the attribution shown on the school fees pages.

Limits on our liability

Please read this section carefully: it limits what you can claim from us. Vulo is provided “as is” and “as available”, free of charge, without any warranty, express or implied, including as to accuracy, completeness, currency, availability or fitness for a particular purpose.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Vulo and Webafy are not liable for any loss or damage of any kind, whether direct, indirect, incidental, special or consequential, including loss of money, profit, opportunity, cover, a place at a school or goodwill, arising from your use of, or inability to use, the site, or from any decision, purchase, cancellation, switch or payment you make on the strength of information found here, including where that information was wrong, incomplete or out of date, whether or not the loss was caused by our negligence.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited under South African law, including liability for fraud, for gross negligence or intentional misconduct, or any right you have under the Consumer Protection Act, 2008 that cannot be waived.

Any policy, contract, account, enrolment or admission, and any dispute about it, is between you and the provider or school. Vulo is not a party to it and cannot alter, honour or enforce its terms.

To the extent the law allows, you agree to hold Vulo and Webafy harmless against any claim by a third party that arises from your breach of these terms or your unlawful use of the site.

Corrections, takedowns and complaints

If you are a provider, school or member of the public and you believe something on Vulo is wrong, out of date or should not be shown, tell us at vip@webafy.co.za with the page, what is wrong and, if you can, a link to the correct source. We will review it and correct or remove it where it is wrong. For privacy requests, see our privacy policy.

Availability and changes

We may change, suspend or withdraw the site or any part of it at any time without notice, and we do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may update these terms; the date at the top changes whenever we do, and continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law, severability and the whole agreement

These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of South Africa, and any dispute is subject to the jurisdiction of its courts. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest continues to apply. Our failure to enforce a right is not a waiver of it. These terms, together with our privacy policy, are the whole agreement between you and us about your use of the site.
